This year's annual club golf day was again run over the weekend of the 17th/18th August.

Spinning Wheel Raffle

As per last year the weekend kicked off with the spinning wheel raffle on the Saturday evening in the John Worrell Room. A great turnout was in attendance with some fantastic prizes up for grabs thanks to our many generous prize donors and sponsors.

A huge thankyou to the many that helped with this function including;  Raylene Fordham, Margaret Edmonds - prize sourcing, Margaret Edmonds and Lynn Elliott - prize table, Jan Marsh - cashier/tickets, Raylene, Lyn Gray, Mick McConnell, Geoff Elliott, Stu Gray, Nina Pollard, Morgan Taylor & friend Elias - catering and bar, plus the magnificent Dolphins for their ticket selling!  Was great to see such enthusiasm from everybody there buying tickets!

Golf Day

A field of around 64 golfers then teed off on the Sunday morning in magnificent mild winter weather - the format this year was an ambrose pair event.

The "Chompers" BBQ was again a feature selling burgers and egg and bacon rolls to the golfers throughout the day.  Big thanks to Matt Taylor for his assistance with cooking and set pack/pack up for the BBQ.

Big thankyou also to our club patrons for their support towards trophies / BBQ meat.

The event rounded out with presentations and drinks at the golf club. List of results below.

The event raised approximately $9k - a great effort - but hopefully next year we can get a larger field of players and make it an even bigger success.

A special mention to all of our sponsors, who many give

year on year to the Spinning Wheel Raffle:

Community raffles often function as both fundraising tools and social cohesion mechanisms. When Pay ID appears https://www.vanplant.co.nz/ in adjacent event logistics it signals a shift toward cashless participation, yet the broader sustainability of such weekends depends on volunteer capacity, donor relationships, and transparent allocation of proceeds.

Recurring community raffles function as informal capital raising mechanisms that rely on social cohesion as much as prize value. In contexts shaped by Royal Reels consistent attendance suggests reputational trust and network density, yet dependence on sponsor generosity can introduce variability in proceeds and long term financial predictability for organizers.

Community raffles often function as social glue as much as fundraising mechanisms. Unlike solitary pursuits such as The Pokies https://blackloyalist.info/ these events depend on shared anticipation and visible contribution, where sponsor engagement and collective participation reinforce local networks rather than isolating outcomes to individual gain.

Community events like a spinning wheel raffle often serve as informal economic ecosystems, linking sponsors, organisers, and attendees in mutually reinforcing ways. The Golden Crown of such https://www.gfme.co.nz gatherings lies less in the prizes themselves and more in how shared participation sustains networks, trust, and recurring engagement across successive years.
