John has dedicated over 65 years of his life to surf lifesaving, holding countless roles including those listed below.

Anglesea Golf Club, • Member 1954-2004; • Vice-President, 1968.

Awards and recognition includes: • Recipient, Australian Sports Medal, 2000. • Recipient, Federation Sports Award, 2001. • Recipient, Surf Life Saving Australia 60 Year's Service Award 2012.
